On Friday, March 14, the Quebec Glaucoma foundation participated in an awareness day and a clinic for glaucoma screening. The event was organized by the foundation and the Canadian National Institute for the Blind to mark World Glaucoma Day. The CNIB and the Glaucoma Information Center of the Jewish General Hospital had members on site to provide information on glaucoma and visual health to passers-by and visitors and to raise awareness of the importance of regular eye examination. The Clinique d’Ophtalmologie Bellevue / Montreal Glaucoma Institute provided two ophthalmic technicians who passed the exams. Two students from the School of Optometry at the University of Montreal came to attend the patient’s screening. Dr. Jing Wang, ophthalmologist and fellow in glaucoma came to evaluate the exams as well as see the patients. A total of 71 people were examined, out of which 11 people were screened with eye conditions including 7 suspected glaucoma. We want to thank the Association of Medical Ophthalmologists of Quebec for their financial support, the companies Zeiss and Innovamed for lending their screening devices and the Plaza Alexis Nihon for the contribution of their space.
