Below is a list of treatments available at the Bellevue clinics and a brief description of these.

SLT Laser

The SLT laser, or its full name Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty is one of the treatments possible to lower the intraocular pressure. This laser a treatment of a few minutes only, painless, done under local anaesthesia (drops), which consists of stimulating the trabeculum of the eye with a focused luminous beam to allow the aqueous humour to circulate more easily and therefore lower the intraocular pressure.

Iridotomy laser

The IL laser, or its full name Iridotomy Laser, is a preventive treatment recommended for people with narrow angles.

When left untreated the narrow iridocorneal angles can lead to an acute glaucoma attack.

The iridotomy laser consists of making a microscopic hole in the iris, allowing the aqueous humour to flow freely though this newly created path

Capsulotomy laser

The capsulotomy laser makes it possible to treat the opacification of the posterior capsule, which can happen after a few years or months following a cataract surgery.

The opacification happens when debris accumulates on the posterior capsule (part of the lens still present after a cataract surgery), which usually causes a decrease in vision

During the capsulotomy, the doctor creates an opening in this capsule to remove these debris, and allow you to regain a better vision.

The Cyclo G6 laser

This cyclophotocoagulation laser with micropulsation is called G6. This new type of laser lowers the intraocular pressure without any incision.

If we compare it to the CPC, the G6 creates less inflammation, allowing the patient to be more comfortable. This is a treatment that can be repeated because it destroys less tissue, and also reduces the risks of hypotonia or post-laser uveitis.

This is a new generation of lasers that has unique proprieties to lower the production of aqueous humour in the cilar body.
